Furpocalypse uses centralized checkout for dealers like an old fashioned show room. What benefits does this provide versus letting dealers handle their business?
My understanding was that Connecticut's process & fees for getting a tax ID to be allowed to legally sell/deal in the state is both arduous and expensive so using the centralized checkout system makes it easier for dealers who do not already have/cant afford that process to deal

That is reassuring because my only dealer experience was right before the 'rona so I feel just as new as I did before ;;
I have a much better understanding of why now. It actually makes a lot of sense. I checked the process and it does require a fee and is indeed a pain. I didn't even notice the advantage it gives someone like me who would want to do business in CT once a year in that they can still participate.
And yes I am the dealer's den assistant. I am the #2 who temporarily becomes #1 in the lead's absence. I ran the dealer's den by myself at times. It went super smoothly.
I agree wholeheartedly with your last statement which is why I suggested I do that at Furpoc. I feel much better about my own work. I showed it off by wearing it.

It's indeed much more convenient and it allows for more rapid impulse style sales. I can't tell you how many people decided they wouldn't buy something because I was not the dealer and thus could not make a sale. I don't know if they came back later
I'm guessing the short answer to that is "Maybe, if you're lucky" and they see something they really want. Otherwise there's a good chance that money gets spent somewhere else
Some states have a catagory for flea market type events. Basically let's an individual who only does sales once per year, for a couple of days. But Connecticut does not seem to have that. So you have to register with state and file paperwork quarterly or monthly. If the state decides you are small enough, they might allow you to switch to one filing and payment annually.

That was the third or fourth train versus motor vehicle incident recently with mbta commuter rail. Not a good look.
Still any thing vs a train is bad. It happens too many times and honestly I’ve had so many close calls myself and that’s all I’ll say because I try not to remember those times. But honestly you can’t beat a train at a crossing. It’s not worth the risk
If you got salt, lightly sprinkle it over the pile, give it an hour or so to melt holes in the berm, then attack with a steel shovel and lots of anger.

We would like to take a moment to recognize one of our longtime staff members that recently passed away due to some health complications. BrunBera started back in the early days of FurFright and carried over to Furpocalypse as a jack-of-all trades staffer.
Always supportive and always ready to help out in any capacity, he was there when we needed him. All of us miss him dearly and we will be dedicating this upcoming 2022 event year to him. Our hearts go out to his loved ones and family. Rest easy old friend, you will be missed.

From what I understand, if you do keep it full of def and do the regeneration thing regularly it's not a problem. But there is crap grade def fluid out there, and a lot of drivers keep putting off doing the regeneration thing because it's a hassle. One of our drivers kept doing that because we mostly do local delivery, and the Regeneration process takes longer than most of our trips.

Driving a hybrid now. I am not a believer in electric cars as the cure all that they are being sold as by the green new deal hucksters. Until they figure out how to get cheap, reliable, around the clock electricity that doesn't use fossil fuels, the numbers just don't work for most use cases.

Ooooh the EV. Yes we’re still gonna burn fossil fuels to make power for everything. Coal power stations and gas stations are still in operation. Not as many but still there. Nuclear, solar and wind have taken over. Solar is the way to go and stuff. Expensive at first but eventually it pays it’s self off. Heck I still have a few chunks of coal from work I’ve collected over the years.

Also as a result of said disasters no one wants to live near one knowing that if the one near them melts down, you lose everything with no hope of recovery
The only logical solution is to hurry up on development of nuclear power plants able to use spent fuel from conventional plants, effectively using it up to a point where it becomes so depleted it's not so much of a problem to store the waste.

Canada has been using such a plant for over 30 years and there's many concepts for newer and much more efficient and much safer designs that show promise of being less complicated and less expensive but they're still experimental right now
Look up the CANDU reactor. Fresh or spent uranium and one of two reactor designs in the world capable of being refueled without being shut down. Canada has been operating many of them for over 30 years and they've never had a serious incident
(The other one was the Soviet era RBMK which was the type Chernobyl used)

They still manufacture those smoke detectors actually. In commercial fire they are used for special hazard protection, and the rest are all optical sensors now.. but in residential side of things they are still the cheap bottom shelf $3 smoke alarms that don't actually work well for detecting house fires before it's too late
Until they are hit with a tsunami, earthquake, aircraft (9/11) or submerged due to ocean level rise. Then there is incompetence/corruption. Also all these reactors will melt down if WW3 occurs but I guess by then it will not matter.
I could do it that way, but I'm getting older and less flexible, and costwise, buying a used step van is pretty close to minivan, and gives me lots more room and comfort.
It all depends on the standards of when and where they were built, and how closely the builders actually followed them.

Plants built in the western worlds after the 70s are generally pretty well built. The only accident in one of them that resulted in significant release of radioactive a was Fukushima. And it was designed to be hit by a tsunami and survive, it's just that mother nature came up with a bigger wave than the max case it was designed for.

They generally are required to go to the thousand year storm requirement for all hazards at that location. Plus manmade hazards. For instance, Seabrook in New Hampshire was designed to take the impact of a fully war loaded FB-111 on it's containment without breeching, since there was back then an air force base a few miles away and that was the worst case crash scenario.
The strategy forks depending on if I want to be able to fit into parking garages or not. Once I decide not fit into a parking garage, the costs of a van to a step van are noise level. And step vans are designed for longer lifespans, so parts and repairs for a used one gets a lot easier.

To be honest stealth sleepers like that are far better for on the road living rather than in the city. If you plan on spending a few days in (Insert major city here) you won't really need your stealth sleeper in a place where parking is difficult or impossible

The radar detector laws apply only if your car is registered in a state that outlaws them. So while CT police may write you a ticket if you are from out of state, but it gets dismissed if you contest it.

To my understanding; the hotel's parking garage is pretty big and will be free to park for our guests. There is oversized vehicle parking located across from the parking entrance, but limited capacity. We are planning to have space reserved for a car show.
The hotel garage does use a ticket booth system, but I think they'll keep the out-going traffic gate open for our event.
If Im wrong, tar and feathers dont usually disappear off store shelves.
